While not a candidate school yet, we use MYP concepts in middle school inquiry classes such as language and literature, individuals and societies, science, the arts, design, and physical education. These subject groups are our academic core, with student led inquiry that lays the groundwork for our conceptual learning environment. In this setting, the academic content is determined by both American and Chinese academic standards, plus student interests and experiences. Teachers construct units of inquiry that allow students to acquire both knowledge and skills.
